CVSA graduation standards and curricular offerings meet all Colorado Commission of Higher Education (CCHE) standards for college entrance.
A total of 25 credits shall be earned in grades 9 through 12, including completion of subject area requirements and electives, for graduation from CVSA. To graduate, a student must be enrolled at CVSA a minimum of two consecutive semesters preceding graduation from CVSA and meet or exceed minimum Board requirements. The 25 required credits required for graduation shall be distributed as follows:

Teacher Aiding: Student aides received .25 credit per semester.
Curricular offerings will include Advanced Placement and College-level classes as part of the target curriculum in 11th and 12th grades.
A cumulative total of no more than five credit hours, with no more than one credit hour per subject area, for satisfactory completion of approved, on-line, independent study, or correspondence courses, will be accepted in meeting the graduation requirements.
Academic waivers: Participation in a school-sanctioned activity that is aligned with the applicable content standards and that receives pre-approval from the principal.
No course credit shall be granted for less than a “D-” grade in a course.
Course credit shall be granted as an academic unit, often referred to as a Carnegie unit, equivalent to one hour of instruction per day for an academic school year.
Special education program requirements for graduation shall be determined by the building staffing team.
Credit from Other Institutions and Home-based Programs: All students entering from outside CVSA must meet CVSA graduation requirements. The principal shall determine whether credit toward graduation requirements shall be granted for courses taken outside CVSA. Students, who are currently enrolled in CVSA and wish to obtain credit from outside institutions, or through on-line programs, must have prior approval from the principal.
CVSA shall accept the transcripts from a home-based educational program. In order to determine whether the courses and grades earned are consistent with District requirements and District academic standards, CVSA shall require submission of the student’s work or other proof of academic performance for each course for which credit toward graduation is sought. In addition, CVSA may administer testing to the student to verify the accuracy of the student’s transcripts. CVSA may reject any transcripts that cannot be verified through such testing.
Technology sill be embedded in ALL curricular areas, including the use of computers, cell phones, personal digital assistants, and other technology tools.
